KENEDY ISD DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENT
At a special-called board meeting on July 20, 2026, the Kenedy ISD Board of Trustees took action to name Dr. Bobby Templeton as Interim Superintendent, with an anticipated start date of Monday, August 3, 2026. Additionally, the Board appointed Dr. Theresa Molina to serve as Acting Superintendent effective July 21, 2026, until Dr. Templeton officially assumes his role.
The Board and District thank Mr. Shane Wagner for his service as Acting Superintendent. We appreciate the continued support of our staff and community during this time of transition. Preparations are already underway to ensure a successful start to the new school year, and we look forward to an exceptional year ahead for our students.

“The Board of Trustees met on July 6, 2026, to continue its search for the next superintendent of Kenedy ISD. The Board would like to thank all community stakeholders for their valuable input, which has been incredibly helpful throughout this process.
After extended and thoughtful deliberation at the meeting, the Board did not take action to name a lone finalist. Choosing the district’s next leader is the most important decision the Board makes, and the trustees take this responsibility and the trust the community places in the Board very seriously.
While the new school year is quickly approaching, the Board is committed to not rushing this critical decision. Therefore, the Board is extending the timeline for the superintendent search to later in the school year. As a result, the current search process is temporarily paused, and the Board will meet soon to address possible interim superintendent candidates.
The Board is deeply grateful to all the applicants who applied for the position, and greatly appreciates the community's ongoing support as the search for Kenedy ISD's next leader continues.”
