2020 Graduation Guidelines and Procedures

May 11, 2020

Dear Class of 2020 Graduates and Families:

On May 22, we will hold the 2020 graduation starting at 7:00 p.m.  We ask that all participants and families follow specific guidelines on graduation.  All graduates will receive 10 tickets for the graduation ceremony. The graduation ceremony will be live streamed and recorded on the Kenedy ISD website.

Graduate Arrival, Parking, and Entrance

Students need to get to campus by 5:00 pm.  Students will park in the student parking area in front of the high school.  They will then go into the building by the main office to the main gym for temperature checks and photos.  Students need to bring their graduation caps and gowns and be dressed in semi-formal attire: dress shirt & nice jeans/slacks for boys & modest dress/blouse & slacks for girls.  Girls, remember it is difficult to walk on the turf in high heels.  We will have masks for the students to wear in the building.  Each graduate will receive a print of their graduation picture.

Graduate Dismissal

Graduates will leave the ceremony first.  Senior sponsors will lead them off the field.  Students will go through the main campus to where they parked.  If families are picking up a graduate, you can meet them at the front of the main campus after the ceremony.  Graduates should not be gathering or mingling with families or other graduates after the ceremony.  There will not be an opportunity for family photos while on school grounds.

Guest Arrival, Parking, Entrance, and Seating

Gates will open up at 6 p.m.  As guests enter the parking lot, their temperatures will be checked.  If guests show any symptoms, they will be required to leave.  Guests are highly encouraged to wear masks or facial coverings.  Students received 10 tickets before the ceremony with times and locations to park and enter the field.   Families will park in the parking lot between the football field and central office.  Please arrive with your families at the time listed on your tickets.  Families will need to come in all at one time at the time listed on the tickets.

Guests should have tickets out and ready to be presented at the entrance area.

  • No one will be admitted without a ticket.  Every adult and child (all ages) must have a ticket.

  • You will not be allowed to bring gifts of any kind.  Please make arrangements to give gifts after the ceremony in an off-campus location.

  • You must come in with your family group of up to 10.  All members of the group must be present to enter the field.  Please do not miss your arrival time.

  • We will have a district-approved photographer to take pictures.  No one can move around to take photos during the ceremony.

  • Restrooms will be open but limited to make sure we are following social distancing.

  • Handicapped seating is available.

Guest Dismissal

At the end of the ceremony, graduates will exit first and be escorted to their vehicles in the front parking lot.  We will then release one family at a time by section of the stadium.  No guests are allowed on the field at any time.  It’s important to leave as soon as you are dismissed.  We cannot allow families to gather in the parking lots.

Thank you for your cooperation.  If you have any questions, please contact the high school office.
